iSplash Color Photo Editor App Reviews

This app doesnt work at all

I have read all the reviews, and invested my 99 cents to get this "overall decent app". Now I am out a buck. iSplash wont open any pictures in my iPhoto library or anywhere on my desktop - all I get is a blank screen. Even when it says the file is open, I cant see it. If I select Save As, the greyscale version of the photo is saved - however, I cant see it, edit it, or add color to it in anyway. Even re-opening this new "Save As" version doesnt solve this issue. This is truly disappointing and is misrepresentative. Avoid this and spend your 99 cents elsewhere. Does anyone know how to get a refund for an app that doesnt work?

No image viewable - wast of money

As per others concerns, when you open a file you only see a blank grey screen. Click on iSplash Help shows "No help for iSplash" .

not work

It can not open any picture and always black screen, so disappointed. a waste of money

Great apps, some improvements possible (4 stars)

Just as the review below me said, the app does exactly what it says it does in a very user-friendly way. Using Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and iPhoto 8.1.2 (09), I have not had any problems using iSplash from iPhoto (simply drag photo from your library to the iSplash icon on your taskbar), however some functionalities could be improved. Opening photos in this way has resulted in the vignette in my iPhoto library not being updated despite the edits showing correctly when opened full-screen. Not a app-breaking issue, but annoying. A way Ive found of going around this is to export photo, do edits in iSplash then re-import to library, but this gets rid of the date/time stamp on the picture (which I had anticipated and prepared for)... but again, nothing really app-breaking, especially considering the quite reasonable price. Other possible areas for improvement: -can only navigate photos with scrolling bars (annoying when zoomed in) - a hand icon would be practical; -can only zoom in from toolbar - again, a zoom icon could be useful if implemented; -there seems to be a glitch when closing pictures you were editing opening up again when you switch back to the app or when using the Open function - this doesnt happen when quitting and opening the app again though. Still, quite a good app for the reasonable price. Recommended. Now I only have to resist the urge to tweak every other picture with it!

Great app!

Great app and cheap too!

Amazing

Some people dont understand the aesthetic concept here. The concept is to have a black and white picture with a single or a couple of coloured objects in it, in its original colour. This is not a painting software to change the original colours of the picture. Whether on sale or not $0.99 is not a bad price. An amazing software indeed.

I searched crop and got this...

There is no option to crop photos in this program and the screen shots you see are all taken in Preview, not in the iSplash program. I was less than impressed this even came up in a search when I dictated a search for cropping photos. Also, put some real shots of the program up, not ones of viewer so that everyone can see the programs sub par functionality. I would not reccomend purchasing this app unless all you want to do is pop colour.

LUV IT!!!

I took soo many pics on my vacation, so I am happy to highlight the important moments:) There is no croppping feature, but thats what iPhoto is for:) I would reccomend it!!:) But you should really add a drag and drop feature, it would make life soo much easier

Beware !!

Although it says versions 10.6.6 or later 64-bit. The updated version does not work on Snow Leapard 10.6.8 64-bit.

Crashes Snow Leopard...

Im curious to why this update still pops up in the App store for Snow Leopard when obviously it is not compatible. Crashes every time....

stumped on saving

The app does what it is intended for, however, there seems to be significant bugs in the saving aspect. When asked to save as… nothing happens. A window should pop up as is typical of any computer application, yet this does not happen. It then becomes unclear as to where the new edited photo saves on the computer. When an attemp to contact the developer on their web site was tried, the anti spam security system did not allow for submition of the problem for help. The last resort was to leave a review. Would rate higher if this issue was resolved. (Here’s hoping its not my ignorance!)

fix the save as please!!

would rate higher if the saving was better…. when i save the photos, they disappear… please fix this!!! Also is there a way to send your finished pictures to iPhoto??

can not save as….

app would be great for the average camera person it will grayscale any pic and you highlight the areas you want to add colour. However it wants to overwrite the original photo and will not let you save as….. so you can not change the title and this is why it wants to overwrite your original. otherwise it does what it is suppose to and likely would have been a 4 star

Dont waste your time….

What a waste of time. I wish I had read the reviews before spending so much time on an edit. What is the point of this app if it won’t save and if it is saving where to????

Terribly confusing update!

Everything is all over the place, I can’t even figure out how to import a picture anymore (literally)… I have to relearn what all the buttons do… More than 90% of them are foreign to me, I got no clue what they are for, I click them and it ends up messing up my pictures… I understand adding some new effects was a great and intuitive idea, but messing up the layout of the app in such an impacting manner isn’t anywhere near helpful! If you want to make such a huge update, next time make sure to leave your loyal buyers some instructions! Please! I will now enter my external hard-drives time machine and get back the older version until this newer one is made easier to navigate. I am counting on you, T-bone, LLC. Don’t let us down!

Stupid app - waste of money

Worst app ever. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever….

No longer what I want

Original review would be 4 stars. Simple to use, turn photo gray scale, paint back original color where you want it, save... NOW UGH! Will not open on my desk top running 10.6.8 Not usable on my macbook pro - features do not work, turned photo to gray scale, when selecting tool - frozen screen repeated several times - never able to work with photo. WANT THE OLD SIMPLE APP BACK

Terri

This is awful. Its seems like it is bogging down my computer. App is very slow. Want my money back.

Hold on folks!

Updating my review. What are you people complaining about?? This is a great app that does just what it says it will. It is for the casual user who wants to do a color knockouts. If you bought it expecting Photoshop, if you need layers, or filters and a lot more options, you the problem is you, not the app. :) ---------------------- Way too easy! Ive been having a blast with some photos that would otherwise just be tagged and forgotten. So. so cheap and so much fun. Great results in a fraction of the time of some of the heavy weight apps. A tiny, tiny, tiny suggestion.....a keyboard short cut for zooming in and out....Command plus/minus..shift plus/minus, anything. Great application and a total steal!.

nothing "pro" about it. doesnt even retain exif data

it is overall a very bare bones application. you can select areas to retain colour and leave the rest of the image in grayscale, but that is it. there is no easy way to reimport the version back into iphoto. you cannot affect the saturation, contrast, exposure, or anything in splash, so you need to do that in iphoto (or your favourite editor) and then export into isplash, sometimes you need to go back and forth a few times to get the image just liek you want it. but the worst of it is that isplash saves a version of your photo minus exif data. bummer.
